Awards Season Viral Recap
With all of the awards in hand and the red carpets put away, the 2015 award season has officially ended. Now in the past we here at MintTwist have enjoyed our fair share of social media predictions, from the 2014 Oscars to the 2013 X Factor winner, but this year we decided to do things a little differently. We decided to take a nice little walk down memory lane to look back on the social media highlights of the 2015 award season.
Tina said, “In Into the Woods, Cinderella runs from her prince, Rapunzel is thrown from a tower for her prince, and Sleeping Beauty just thought she was getting coffee with Bill Cosby.” The joke caught many attendees off guard, and some celebrities didn’t know quite how to react.

Saturday Night Live even parodied it during their 40th anniversary episode where Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar (or rather Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey) poked fun at the incident during their SNL’s Top Ten Wayne’s World sketch.
The campaign was first brought to the 2015 award season’s attention when Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls tweeted the hashtag on the evening of the Golden Globes. However, it really picked up traction when Reese Witherspoon instagrammed two photos featuring the hashtag, which collectively gathered over 40,000 likes.
Reese didn’t keep her love for the hashtag just to her social media platforms, however. While talking on the red carpet to ABC’s Robin Roberts the actress said “This is a movement to say we’re more than just our dresses…. It’s hard being a woman in hollywood or any industry so it’s exciting for me to talk to some of the other nominees about the work they’ve done.” By the time the the Oscars red carpet ended, #AskHerMore had been used in over 27,000 tweets and was trending on U.S. Twitter search terms.
